Create content

This guide to creating content assumes you have a blank or empty site. Learn more about creating content with the IU Web Framework.

Templates

Templates are XHTML documents that provide the structure of page assets. Templates typically contain the HTML scaffolding, necessary scripts, and CSS files to produce the desired look and feel of a page.

  1. Select Add Content > Default > Template.
  2. Complete the required fields.
  3. Select Submit.

Configuration set

A configuration set is a collection of one or more outputs (for example, HTML, XML) that are used to display page content. A page can be published in multiple formats simultaneously.

  1. Navigate to Manage Site > Configuration Sets and select Add.
  2. Choose Configuration from the context menu.
  3. Complete the required fields.
  4. Select Submit.

Metadata set

A metadata set is data within the WCMS that describes an asset. The metadata that a user enters for assets can be used for display purposes on pages.

  1. Navigate to Manage Site > Metadata Sets and select Add.
  2. Choose Metadata Set from the context menu.
  3. Complete the required fields.
  4. Select Submit.

Content type

A content type combines the look and feel of a page (configuration) with the editable content fields of a page (metadata set and data definition) so that non-technical users can easily create and edit pages.

  1. Navigate to Manage Site > Content Types and select Add.
  2. Choose Content Type from the context menu.
  3. Complete the required fields.
  4. Select Submit.

Pages

Pages represent the grouping of a template, content, blocks, and more that a user publishes to the web. Cascade CMS can also index pages to dynamically generate navigation link menus, site maps, RSS feeds, and more.

  1. Select Add Content > Default > Page.
  2. Complete the required fields.
  3. Select Submit.

Delete content

Assets without prohibiting relationships can be deleted from the WCMS. Deleted assets are placed in the trash container and are automatically removed after 15 days. Assets removed after 15 days are not recoverable.

  1. Open the context menu on any asset.
  2. Choose Delete from the context menu.
  3. Select Submit.
